«In each one of my songs, there’s a pinch of sea salt and a little wanderlust.» says Eduardo Morris. The son of a pizza-baker from Cordoba knows what he’s talking about.
Right after he finished school, he went to the capital, Buenos Aires, where he struggled to make a living part-time-jobbing and playing the guitar on the streets. With the money he earned, he built a little studio with a friend where he learned the art of sound engineering and recorded and produced local bands.
Argentina’s financial collapse in 2001 also struck Eduardo Morris hard: He had to sell his studio and most of his instruments and signed on as a sailor on an oil tanker. The next three years he spent on the ocean where he learned to love the rough as well as the lovely sides of the sea. Back in Buenos Aires, he started to record the songs he had written over the years and made himself a name as a Latin- and House-DJ.
It took until January 2010 until Morris decided to finally present his songs to the public. In a club in Buenos Aires he met Swiss guitarist and producer Matthias Urech who – fascinated by Morris’ mixture of urban styles – convinced him to collaborate with him and eventually release a first track.
The result is a beautiful variety of songs between urban Latin-, Hip Hop beats and mediterranean melancholy, which neither fail to move the hip nor the heart. These songs remind you of a sunset over the metropolis, or a lonely ship on a wild and endless ocean.
